One common mistake that new bloggers make is not giving their readers anything to do at the end of a blog post.
Put yourself in their place for a minute. You’ve just read a great article, but then get to the end and there’s no call to action. What happens next? You just go on to the next thing on your social media feed.
In order to grow your blog, you’ll need a hook to grab your readers. Is there something that you can give them or teach them? What about the opportunity to connect with you via email or social media or even take you up on a product recommendation?
That’s what a call to action at the end of your blog posts is all about.
Encourage Comments and Interaction
One of the easiest ways to create an irresistible call to action is to ask your readers to leave you a comment. In a conversational tone, invite them to share their own experiences on the topic, a tip, or a comment.
Here’s one example: What are your favorite ways to end your blog posts? Do you use a particular call to action? Leave me a comment below and let’s talk.
Invite Them To Connect Further Via Social Media
If growing your social media reach is a goal (and it should be), consider adding some calls to action on to “like” the blog post on Facebook. Then share it on Twitter, pin it on Pinterest or anyplace else that you hang out. You could also share one of your social media profiles in the call to action and invite them to join you there.

Make a Product Recommendation
One way to monetize your blog is to make a sale or a product recommendation that you’re an affiliate for. This process is called pre-selling. You talk about a topic and then at the end make a recommendation for a product that helps your readers solve a problem that they might be struggling with.
Example: If you are not monetizing your blog yet, have you thought about trying the Amazon Affiliate Program?
If you are new to affiliate marketing it is one of the easiest ways to start. Jessica Larrew shares how she has made over $30,000 from Amazon as an affiliate over the last few years. Click Here to learn more: The Bloggers Guide to Rocking The Amazon Affiliate Program.
Invite Potential Readers To Join Your List
One of the best things that you can do at the end of your blog posts is to invite readers to join your list. Once you have them on your email list, you can invite them to come back and read other posts, comment on them, join you on your favorite social media platforms and of course make relevant offers to your readers.
Getting readers on your email list should always be a top priority. Social media algorithms are always changing and can influence reach, but once people are on your list you have that connection with them that won’t change unless they choose to unsubscribe.
Here’s a real life example that would appear under a blog post about reviving old blog posts. I’d wrap up the post with an invitation like this:
