Time goes by incredibly fast when we’re having fun or just leading our hectic lives. It can feel like life is passing by. Sometimes we want to look back and remember the amazing little things that happened in our life last week or a few months ago.
With a just few little tweaks, your bullet journal can also become a treasured keepsake of memories. You’ll love to look through the pages in years to come and going back in time.
Here’s how to get started with memory keeping:
Write As You Go Along
You don’t have to create special entries or do a lot of decorative scrapbooking techniques. Just keep a simple diary of what happened in your day to day life like things your kids said, projects you did around the house, and the random special moments that happen around you.
Take Stock of Your Day
Before you go to bed at night, write a sentence or two about memorable things that happened today that you want to remember down the road. If you have young children, you may want to record their accomplishments or funny things they said. You might think that you’ll remember it all, but chances are you won’t.
You can also add a picture, doodle, or add some memorabilia to your page that reminds you of the day’s events. You might want to add event ticket stubs, or even copy funny texts that you received. In the future, it will be fun to look back and read about these memorable events of days past.
Add A Monthly Memory or Gratitude Page
Finally, you can also add dedicated monthly memory pages to your journal. Think of them as little scrapbook pages. Design them however you like. Just keep it fun and not complicated. Maybe you’ll want to create a traditional scrapbook page with photos and stickers. Add some color with washi tape. Maybe you’ll want to write a short essay. Or or it could be a page of doodles and words that represent events and people that you want to remember from the month.
There is no right or wrong way to make a memory keeper. Find a way that makes sense for you and don’t compare your journal with others. The benefit of recording little memories in this way will help you to live in the moment and focus on developing gratitude for the good things in your life.
