According to http://en.gravatar.com a gravatar is:
Your Gravatar is an image that follows you from site to site appearing beside your name when you do things like comment or post on a blog. Avatars help identify your posts on blogs and web forums, so why not on any site?
So you know how you see comments with a random image representing the person who left the comment? Doesn't that make you curious as to what they look like. One may even liken it to a stalker (ok a bit dramatic on my part) or a secret admirer (much nicer) But my point is I want to know you, I want to build a relationship with you and if you took the time to comment on my blog post, I definitely want to reciprocate and have a visual of the person I am communicating with.
Here are a few more reasons:
- Build relationships with other blog owners when I comment on their blog. (redundant I know)
- Become recognizable and part of my online branding
Watch the video below for a few fun tips on how to create your avatar and where it will show up on your site and other sites. There was something wonky in this video where the screen demo was lagging behind my audio. Weird since I recorded them both at the same time.. must be the nasty windy weather outside. Have a great one.
