Marshmallow Buttercream Frosted Donuts…..
Yes I am on a donut kick and lost in some other parallel universe but my taste buds are happy.
It so happens today is #NationalDonutDay. So, I am going to dispense of the niceties and get on with the details so you can have these nomalicious fun donuts dancing happily on your taste buds.
You can choose your own color….
Glazed or cake donuts (I used Krispy Kreme)
Marshmallow buttercream frosting (recipe below)
Blue or Red food gel
Wooden Pop sticks
RECIPE MARSHMALLOW BUTTERCREAM FROSTING INGREDIENTS
2 cups butter
3 cups powdered sugar
1 t almond extract
13 oz jar marshmallow creme (I used Kraft Jet-Puffed)
MARSHMALLOW BUTTERCREAM FROSTING PROCESS
1)Using an electric mixer, cream the butter in a medium mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
2)Gradually, add the powdered sugar, 1/2 cup at a time, until well mixed.
3)Add the almond extract and beat until well incorporated
4)Gently fold the marshmallow creme into the mixture and thoroughly blend.
1)Add the marshmallow frosting into a bowl.
2)Add a VERY small dab of the blue or red food gel to the frosting and mix thoroughly until desired blue or red color is achieved.
3)Insert the wooden sticks into each donut.
4)Using a spatula or butter knife, spread the colored icings on each donut.
5)Add sprinkles to each donut.
6)Let set for 5 minutes.
7)ENJOY, who says it's not fun to play with your food!
